WOLLATON RETAIN CHAMPIONSHIP

Bill Fishwick, 27 April 2006 18:37

After a tight game at Attenborough last night Wollaton gained the point they needed to secure the NSL Championship for the second season in a row. The 0-0 draw in a tense  game, with Attenborough shading the 1st half and having a penalty turned down Wollaton had the better of the second half and missed several chances and looked the stonger in the last quarter of the game

However a magnificant achievement for the team / squad and the Management team of Chris Munroe and Andy Benner who have had a tough final two months with suspensions and injuries. to cope with. However the strength in depth of the club was shown when several of Tony Alveys Reserve Champions team have been called upon for the last few matches and more than held there own.

A special mention for Tony Alvey Manager , John Stanhope his assistant along with Steve Tasker Captain of the Reserves who have had a tremendous season and the whole squad have been a credit to the club.

For a club to have both Senior and Reserve team Champions it is something special.

The 3rd and 4th teams have also had their moments and are an integral part of the club with players from all squads willing to help out where necessary. Finally the U12 Pumas have won the YEL Sunday MornIng League by a country mile which all augers well for the future.

Presentation night Friday 5th May at the Clubhouse see you all there
